Background

While Black Friday may be the most hyped and long-awaited shopping day of the year, it is also a bonanza for fraudsters. Typical tactics include phishing email, Adware, e-Skimming and etc

Impact

• It may redirect to PHISHING activity
• Data leakage especially credential information due to clicking malicious URL or Pop-Up
• May lead to loss of money due to scam

Recommendation

• Do not click any suspicious link sent via email or WhatsApp
• Do not open any attachment file from unknown sender, it might contain malicious files
• Never use your debit card for online shopping, it is recommended to use cash card/virtual card
• Browse/shop using private network instead of public WIFI
• Make sure to visit only genuine website of such business. Genuine businesses would often have a secure website that begins with https://
• Never reveal confidential information on fake/spam email.
• Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all online accounts and transactions
• Always check your credit card statement/bank accounts or any transaction made for or after the purchase
• Be suspicious of demanding messages that require your immediate response
• Install antivirus software and update regularly
• Always update your operating system
