Incident Response


BruCERT was established in May 2004 with the vision of enhancing the security of Brunei ICT through proactive prevention and effective response. BruCERT became the nation’s most trusted one-stop referral agency dealing with computer-related security incidents in Brunei Darussalam.

BruCERT coordinates with local and international Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs), communication with other international CERTs, network service providers, security vendors, and government agencies, law enforcement agencies as well as other related organizations to facilitate the detection, analysis and prevention of security incidents on the Internet.

BruCERT has joined other international security expert organizations such as Asia Pacific CERT (APCERT) and OIC-CERT in dealing with IT Security-related incidents and coordinating with other CERTs in fighting cyber crime worldwide. In 2014, BruCERT also became a full member of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST).

Incident response is used to respond and manage a cybersecurity incident, aiming to reduce the damage and recover as quickly as possible. The process involves Preparation, Detection & Analysis, Containment, Eradication & Recovery and Post Incident Activity.
